A couple fake an engagement to get freebies...

Have you ever lied to get something for free?
Okay, okay, we know that at least one person who is reading this has told a white lie to get a free dessert at some point or the other. And if not, then well done to you for being honest. To those of you who have done it, then we think that this couple topped your lie...
Rhian Smith and Harry Collins are a couple from the UK who decided to take advantage of their fake circumstances and reel in the freebies. Rhian decided to borrow her mum's engagement ring and they staged an engagement at the illustrious Shard Hotel in London.
The young couple pre-planned the entire façade as Rhian got her mom's engagement ring and they even dressed up for the night.
"The Liverpool couple dressed up in elegant black attire for their ‘special’ night, with Rhian sharing photos of them enjoying their successful convention. Around this time of year, superior rooms in the opulent hotel start at £795 ($1,050) and go up to £1,045 ($1,380) for city views. As a result, when the adolescent blogged about their achievement in getting the free course and upgrade, netizens were impressed, with some even promising to attempt it themselves." (News18)
That equates to more than R16,000 per night for their superior rooms around the holiday period. So they really scored here with their engagement act...
Her post on social media read: "Borrowing me mums engagement ring to get a hotel room upgrade and a free [dessert] in the shard tonight. We just got engaaaaaged can we have a bigger room pls." (MSN)
It was obvious that their devious plan worked because she had reportedly shared pics of a congratulations dessert on the house from the Shard. If you are unfamiliar with the Shard, then here is some info on this prestigious hotel.
"The Shard is a 72-storey skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in London. It's famous for its posh office complexes, residential apartments, and hotels. It also happens to be UK's highest viewing gallery." (Times Now News)

We doubt that anyone has ever gone this far and spread the word about it socially, because that sounds malicious. Doing it and not sharing it with anyone, we can understand, because there is a sense of naughtiness and romance for the couple.
Well, thank you, Rhian and Harry, you have officially ruined it for the couples who were intending on getting engaged at the Shard...
