CAREER TIPS: How to get job ready for 2023!

"You should always know your value and your worth..."
As the new year comes into play, we have to admit that it can be daunting when it comes to change.
For the most part, the reason why change is daunting is because we don't take the time to prepare, research, and plan out what we need.
Perhaps if we did the work and had a good advisor, then change would be somewhat welcomed.
Vic Naidoo shared that if he had received this piece of advice years ago when he started off his career, life would've been so different.
You should always know your value and your worth, whether you are an intern or a senior manager. Walk into any place knowing your worth and standing your ground. Never let anyone walk over you, be confident in your abilities. Be strong in yourself and have a strong self-concept, because that's what is going to keep you going. Believe in yourself and know that you are the shiz. There's no one else like you in this world.- Vic Naidoo
It's also important to groom yourself appropriately, keeping up with the times when it comes to creating your CV. If anything, the pandemic showed us that we don't have to follow the conventional way of doing things. Ask questions up front, don't be afraid to ask for what you want, if something is not adding value to your life, then remember there is no point in doing anything for the sake of a paycheck. Yes, there are bills to pay, but it's about believing in yourself and having a mindset. The number one thing is a strong self-concept in getting yourself job ready. Know who you are and what you want.- Vic Naidoo

He ended off his advice by saying that there is a difference between being friendly and having friends at work.
His advice was to be friendly, but don't make friends at work. This, of course, is a subjective piece of advice, but use it as a guideline to figuring out what it is you want.
