There is this addictive nature that stems from using social media.

We're uncertain as to whether it happens to everyone, but for the most part there are people who are unable to shake off the urge to scroll.

And like any addiction, it will always be abothersome, ruling factor in your life if you do not acknowledge that there is a problem.

This is why when we saw this person's post on Reddit, we thought it might be a good conversation starter when it comes to having regular social media breaks.

The post lends itself to the idea that too much social media can become toxic.

The Reddit poster said that they suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and would constantly obsess over social media.

As you may imagine for someone with a mental illness, social media can be even more harmful. And it is not something that always benefits people, sometimes it can be damaging to their sense of self acceptance.

It supports the premise that social media, which blatantly states its purpose in its name, is actually the opposite of what is supposed to be.
