As we live in the digital age, we realise that perhaps the past two years haven't fallen on deaf ears.

We were happy to hear that our government has taken to the times and will be supplying each South African home with 10GB of free data per month. Well done, minister of communications, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni.

"In her speech during the state of the nation address (Sona) debate, Ntshavheni revealed that a major free data rollout is on the cards." (TimesLive)

But that's not the best part. The best part is that she also shared that all households, regardless of their income status, would receive the data.

Ntshavheni revealed that data has evolved into a basic utility in many households. And we totally agree. As much as many people use it for entertainment purposes, it is as much a source of education and upliftment.

She also touched on the fact that we could expect lower data rates in the future.

In all honesty, we know that many people, including our very own, very opinionated Vic Naidoo, may think that all of this is well and good, but when will we actually see this?

Let's leave it there for now... we don't want this to become the start of a war...
