Uh, certainly NOT acceptable!
First date etiquette is anything but formalised, but there certainly are some do's and don'ts that are generally followed...
For one, it has always been a true sign of a gentleman to offer to pay for the meal. In all fairness, many women are doing it for themselves, so there are those who don't assume that the man will pay, and rather split the bill or pay for their own meals respectively.

However, in the grander scheme of things, it doesn't really sit well with a lady when you don't at least offer.
Or worse, when she shares that she didn't carry any money and so you plain down leave her sitting opposite you while you buy yourself something to eat...
Uh, not cool!
