Teenager figures out important part of COVID-19 cure

The average 14-year-old has most likely spent the majority of the year chilling and enjoying the time off school, but not Anika.
Scientists and researchers have been working around the clock to find a treatment for the COVID-19 virus.

All around the world, there have been breakthroughs and setbacks.
However, one teenager is standing out above the rest.

Anika Chebrolu is a 14-year-old from Texas who has just won the 2020 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
She won a $25,000 prize for her discovery of a potential COVID-19 therapy!

Without getting too technical, her invention uses an in-silico methodology to discover a led molecule that can selectively bind to the spike protein of the COVID-19 virus.
What this means is her next goal is to use and develop this new information to help contribute to all of the other efforts that have been made across the world.
