Billionaire gives away $8-billion fortune before passing away

"I see little reason to delay giving when so much good can be achieved through supporting worthwhile causes. Besides, it's a lot more fun to give while you live than give while you're dead." - Charles 'Chuck' Feeney.

Former billionaire Charles Feeney, 89, is the co-founder of the airport retail company Duty Free Shoppers and said he couldn't be happier after giving away all his money.

In 1960, he created the company after joining forces with a friend, but his motivation and mission were to always give back to charitable causes.
He also founded Atlantic Philanthropies, which is an organisation that focuses on assisting social, health, and politically liberal causes in countries such as Bermuda, Ireland, Vietnam, and even South Africa.

Throughout his life, he continuously donated his money to charitable causes and at the end of his life had succeeded in giving away a massive $8-billion to many different charities, universities, and foundations.
He also kept it to himself and mostly remained anonymous when donating, which earned him the title of the 'James Bond of Philanthropy'.

His organisation, Atlantic Philanthropies, assisted in bringing peace to Northern Island (Feeney was Irish-American) and modernise the Vietnam healthcare system, to only mention a few of its bigger successes.
Now as of this month, Charles Feeney is broke and he does not care one bit.
What an incredibly inspirational human being and hopefully many others will continue following in his footsteps.
