Has the time finally come for us to retire these types of parties?
For the last week, there have been California wildfires ravaging the state.

This wildfire season is also being accompanied by a record-setting heatwave, and as of today, more than two-million acres of land has been burned in the fires.
People have lost their homes and firefighters have been working tirelessly to put a stop to these fires.

As if this news isn't bad enough, the origin of one of the most destructive fires that is currently still being dealt with, has been revealed.
And it was all because of a gender-reveal party.
The fire was sparked by a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device that was set to reveal the gender of the baby.

This El Dorado fire, in Southern California, has now scorched more than 10,574 acres and is only contained at 16% as of yesterday.
Fire officials have also stated that this is one of "the most dangerous fires" they have seen in the area.
In the captured surveillance footage, which has now been reviewed by investigators, a couple being joined by several children can be seen walking towards a device before lighting it.

After the device exploded, the fire grew out of control while the people involved tried to put a stop to it.
Everyone responsible has also cooperated with investigators.
Shockingly enough, this is not the first gender-reveal party to start a fire. A man in Arizona chose to fire a high powered rifle at a target that was packed with explosives.

The Arizona fire destroyed nearly 47,000 acres and caused $8-million in damages, that he had to pay back while also getting five years of probation.
Hopefully, firefighters will be able to further contain these devastating fires and no-one else will be hurt.
