Love always wins with the Big Favour
Updated | By Damon Beard
This week on the Big Favour, we help turn one man's disaster into a dream.
Listen to this week's Big Favour below, or read the details under the podcast.
Eric is a gardener who’s worked for Donna and her family for 20 years. He’s seen Donna grow up, and is there now to watch her children grow up too.

Eric always goes the extra mile for the family, whether it’s keeping the garden maintained, washing the cars or playing with the children – he’s a real gem and is a part of the family.
For the last five years, Eric has been saving so that he could marry his sweetheart Fikile. A prouder man you’d never find as he geared up for his big day. He’s been so excited that he had managed to save enough to ensure he could provide a perfect day for his wife to be.
Donna and her family were just as excited and arranged that the newlyweds would have a meal and their wedding pictures at their house. A bouquet was also arranged for Fikile.

When Saturday came, Donna and her family waited three hours for the bridal couple to arrive, but they never did. After numerous phone calls and being unable to reach him, panic started to set in.
On Monday morning, Eric arrived at work and spent most of the day in tears. The car his wife was travelling in was involved in an accident, and a member of Fikile’s family was killed. This supposedly perfect day turned into a nightmare.
Although the couple was now married, nothing went according to plan.

Donna wrote to us to see if there was anything we could do to make Eric and Fikile feel special. Oh, yes we can!
I contacted my sponsors at the magnificent Protea Hotels by Marriott Durban Edward who immediately jumped on board.
Soon, Eric and Fikile will be welcomed by the hotel’s General Manager Andrew Govender and his team where they’ll be accommodating the newlyweds at their beautiful hotel. A special dinner awaits them, hearty breakfasts, and a couple's massage at the hotel’s brand new wellness centre.
