Yay or nay to washing your new clothes before wearing them?

While you may have waited a while to grab that favourite T-shirt or dress, you may want to think twice before putting it onto your body before giving it a wash - according to an Immunologist.
When we buy new clothes, how many of us take them home and just put them on without washing them first? Have you ever stopped to wonder how many people have tried on that T-shirt, pair of jeans or shorts before you?

It’s not four or five, it’s dozens and dozens, and if that specific garment sits there for weeks or a month, imagine how many people are also trying it on? So do you really want to wear something that’s just come straight off the rack?
After buying a garment, I was the guy who would just take it home and wear it. Then, I happened to be in a store one day trying on a T-shirt and saw a sweaty man trying on a shirt. It was a tad small for him so he wriggled around in it while the sweat made the shirt wet.
When he finally realised it wasn’t going to fit, he put it back on the hanger and back it went onto the rack. Eww! From that minute onwards, I washed my new clothing before I wore it.

According to Forbes, an Immunologist has said that it's necessary to wash before wear due to the chemicals the garments are exposed to in the factories they are manufactured. The more you wash them, the more chances you have of reducing the risk to chemicals. I mean, who wants to wear clothing with resins and chemicals on them, right?
