WATCH: South African action film scores #1 spot in 33 countries

The locally produced film rose to the top on Netflix.
'Santana' was released over the weekend and instantly became the number 1 watched movie in 33 countries.

The list includes Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and even Greece, and sees 'Project Power' taking the second spot and 'The Sleepover' coming in third.
Directors Chris Roland and Maradona Dias Dos Santana were taken by surprise and mentioned that the film surpassed even their expectations.

But it should come as no surprise, considering the amount of local A-list power this film features.
The film showcases the talents of stars such as Nompilo Gwala, Hakeen Kae-Kazim, and Rapulana Sepheimo.
Other stars include Raul Rosario, Neide Van-Dunem Vieira, and Paula Americano, who are all great Angolan talents.

The plot of the movie follows two brothers in law enforcement, Dias and Matias, as they chase down Africa's most notorious drug lords, Ferreira.
As further plot twists unravel the brothers realise that Ferreira has fled to South Africa and on their journey to capture him, they must break the rules and go against everything they swore to protect.

'Santana' is an Angolan/South African co-production filmed in Luanda and Cape Town, and Roland also says that they are happy to see the movie do so well and show the world what it really needs - more African action films.
