There is a new wine in town and it’s blue

If you are sick of red or white wine, you can now spice things up and purchase some blue wine!

Blue wine

I have never really been into wine. I mean, I’ll drink a glass here and there, but I don’t really know the difference (in taste) between a merlot and a pinotage. A chardonnay and whatever other white wines are out there. I think the only wine I can easily identify is a rose, and I think the wine fundis don’t even classify that as a wine. LOL.

Well, there is a new wine that won’t have me confused, and it’s BLUE!

Yep, blue wine is soon to become a thing.

A Spanish startup, Gik, has revealed the first ever blue wine, and are hoping it will be the next big thing. They created their wine with the help of the University of the Basque Country and food research team Azti Tecnecalia. It is made using both red and white grapes from around Spain. The blue colour is a pigment extracted from grape skin, anthocyanin, and a little indigo dye.

The wine will be available in the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Germany in the coming months and will cost approximately R180.
