Thandolwethu had a moment of silence for the women who were affected by gender-based violence and got real about the entire situation, which has gripped South Africa.

I woke up with a very heavy heart on Tuesday. The death of 19-year-old UCT student, Uyinene Mrwetyana has sent shockwaves through South Africa and left me feeling very uneasy.
The question 'Am I next' spread like wildfire through social media, and I couldn't help by posing it to myself. Would I be next at the hands of a murderer?
I posed a question to the woman of KZN at the start of my show on Tuesday, and it set the mood for one of South Africa's darkest days.

I posted an open letter that was sent by a fellow colleague titled 'Dear men, we are not your property!', and I really echo the sentiments. I long for the time that we will be safe on our beautiful streets. When we can go out and wear what we want - not having to worry about groping hands or prying eyes.
My heart is heavy, and I am crying with the rest of South Africa. Today, I am standing with my East Coast Radio family and many others who will be wearing black in solidarity.
