Signs that you are in a toxic relationship

I have found, from various discussions with girls my age, that many are in extremely toxic relationships. Many of us seem to be so blinded by love that we often fail to see how toxic our relationships are until they're over - that is if your partner doesn't manipulate you into staying.

These relationships often seep over into all aspects of our lives, including work. I have always been a big believer of being the happiest you possibly can be, and if there is a person who is making you extremely unhappy, PACK YOUR BAGS AND GO!

Maybe you don't realise you're in a toxic relationship, or maybe you are just reading out of curiosity, but with a little help from my friends at metro.co.uk, here are some signs that your partner is manipulative, insecure, and just not good for you.

1. Your partner totally isolates you from your friends and family.

2. Any situation becomes about them and their feelings, and they make sure they always end up being the victim.

3. If you get upset for any reason, they turn the situation around so that they are the upset one and you hurt them. 

4. If he/she is constantly worried about you cheating, be careful because they might be cheating on you.

5. They do not trust you, especially if you have friends of the opposite gender.

6. They violate your privacy, but when confronted, they act like you're being irrational.

7. They disregard your personal property, but you can't touch their stuff.

8. They want you to be totally dependant on them. You can’t have a voice of your own!

9. As much as your friends try to show you that your partner is not good for you, you defend him/her constantly.

If any of these signs resonate with you currently, I strongly suggest talking to someone about how you feel and that you gather up the courage to leave the toxicity and stand on your own. 

After all, if you don't love you right, how can you expect anyone to love you right?
