Should celebrities be seen as role models for our kids?

People are very quick to accuse celebs of being bad role models, but here’s the thing: How many celebs wanted to be role models in the first place?

I read an interesting article published by Metro that said that the only person who has a responsibility to be a role model for your child is you, the parent. 

I mean, people like Kylie Jenner or Miley Cyrus actually owe people nothing. Yes, they have tons of Instagram followers, but being a role model is not their responsibility... or is it?

Do we really live in an age where the younger generation are admiring a famous person and wanting to get married on a whim because Britney did it, or they think being pregnant will be easy and fun because Kylie Jenner makes it look that way?

At the end of the day, my view is that celebrities do not impose their lifestyle on kids. Kids have a choice to decide who they want to follow, and as parents, there's a responsibility to guide them in their choices - not make them for them. If kids decide that they want to follow the Kardashians as role models, the fault does not lie with them and they should not be blamed, but that's just my view.

Does being in the public eye mean that being a role model is just part of the deal?  

Should young celebrities be seen as role models or should we just leave them alone?

These people might hold the power of influence, but they are also just human, which surely gives them the right to do just as they please and they should not be held accountable for their actions (ones that are not against the law, obviously), which may or may not influence children?
