Science says it's okay to pee in the shower
Updated | By Damon Beard
When you gotta go, you gotta go, right? Although some of us are too afraid to admit it, science has said that there is nothing wrong with urinating in the shower.
KZN shared their views with Damon about peeing in the show. Listen or read the details under the podcast;
You know the moment when you jump in the shower, and the realisation hits that you need to go pee. Are you jumping out the shower or doing your business right there?
The truth is, we’ve more than likely all ‘been there, done that’ and also thought to ourselves: "is this gross or what?"
While putting the show together, I chatted with a few friends, and many of them cringed when I brought the topic up. Some of them refused to admit it, and a few bravely spoke up about it. We are only human, I guess.

If we're being truly honest here, I have done it before, and I'm not ashamed of it. Not intentional, but I deserved it because who drinks a litre of water before jumping into the shower? I'm never doing that again.
For those of us who are brave enough to admit it, it seems like we're not alone. According to Men's Health, a survey was conducted and almost 80% of people have agreed to doing so at one point or another.
Before you start freaking out, experts in science have said that it isn't a problem to 'let it flow' while you're taking a shower. It is reported that urine isn't toxic - if you're healthy that is. A person who is healthy has a low level of harmful toxins and bacteria. I even read that some environmentalists are open to peeing in the shower as it saves the amount of water used to flush a toilet.

We surveyed East Coast Radio's Twitter audience and found that 69% of people said that if they will not resist the urge to pee in the shower if they have to, while 19% of them said they would jump out to use the toilet (which I don't entirely believe).
So what’s your take? When the urge strikes and you have to pee, do you jump out or just go right there?
