Updated | By East Coast Radio
While many of us rush to catch flights, this passenger got the royal treatment of being dropped off on the runway to catch his connecting flight.
According to a video shared by South African Live, a light aircraft made an unannounced landing at OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg recently.
"Only in South Africa! 😂😂 Light aircraft gatecrashes OR Tambo taxiway without having filed a flight plan and proceeded to land, while other aircrafts were queuing up to take off. According to ATC, the pilot said he was dropping off a friend who needed to catch a connecting flight!" the video was captioned.
eNCA reports that aviation experts have called for action to be taken against the pilot and owner of the aircraft as neither got clearance to land at one of South Africa's busiest airports.
Recent stats published by Airports Company South Africa shows OR Tambo having "10 662 440 departing passengers and 110 286 arriving air traffic movements."
Airport authorities are currently investigating the incident.
