nearly collides with a humpback whale.
A paddleboarder in Hawaii got the experience of a lifetime after getting up close and personal with a pod of humpback whales.
The amazing encounter was caught on camera by a photographer named Uheheu.
The aerial footage shows one of the whales surfacing next to the paddleboarder – narrowly missing them.
With an adult humpback whale weighing around 30,000 kilograms, it is safe to say that was a close call.
Four humpback whales can be seen swimming near the paddleboarder.
The video, which was uploaded on Magic Nature’s Facebook page, has been viewed more than four-million times.
It also received over two thousand comments.
“Awesome but scary! We were in a kayak off the Maui shore quite a way. Our tour guide found out we were right over a grey whale. He was just sitting on the bottom singing! We watched him for about 20 mins. It was so cool,” one Facebook user commented.
Peggy Story-Stith added: “Would have loved it!!! They aren't going to hurt humans unless they breeched on you! If that was the way I went it would be heavenly! They are BEAUTIFUL!!!!”
