Maintenance defaulters to be blacklisted
Updated | By Zaba
A new regulation signed into law means that parents not paying maintenance can’t get further credit.
“ I have some great news for all single parents. President Jacob Zuma has signed the Maintenance Amendment Act (Act No 9 of 2015) into law.
It has been said that the aim of the amendment to the act is to improve the maintenanace system in South Africa.
Basically what will now happen is that maintenance defaulters will be registered with bureaus so that they are unable to get further credit until they pay child maintenance.
It will also create certain new offences as well as increase the penalties for certain offences.
I know of too many parents whi have to struggle as single parents with no help from the other party, it is about time single parent got some form of protection.
