An article titled, 'Would You Rather: Feel worse if no one showed up to your wedding or to your funeral has given Damon serious food for thought, and he has decided to put it out to KZN to get your thoughts.

A recent blog by Joseyphina's World is the subject of this morning's Big Debate. The big question: "Would you rather have people celebrate your biggest day or mourn the loss of your life" gave me a lot to think about after seeing the comment on the article.
This has to be one of the toughest questions out there, well any 'would you rather' questions aren't ones people really want to answer.
What would you choose if I asked you if you’d rather no one showed up at your wedding or your funeral?

For many men and women, a wedding ceremony is something you dream about for years. It's a gathering where you want people to celebrate one of the biggest days of your life. Also, food and flowers are expensive, so one should RSVP by the required time.
Then there's the funeral. If there is an afterworld, I wonder if ghosts watch the people arriving at the funeral, and how many tears are shed? For many people, you live a good life, do the right thing, so it's safe to say that you would like to know that people are indeed mourning your loss. I would imagine that if no one showed up, maybe they were not a fan. But that's only my opinion.

For me, yes, it would be nice to have special friends and family come along to a wedding but if you think about it, a ceremony only really needs two people. The only person you really need there is your partner, right? He or she is going to be the one you’re going to hopefully spend the rest of your life with so having that person beside you is all you really need. Having people there to celebrate with you is really just a bonus.
But having people at my funeral - well I'll be dead anyway so I will not know any better if no one arrives at my funeral, and if I find out from the other side someone didn’t come along, I'll just have to come back and haunt them!
I’d like to think I made enough of an impact on people’s lives to know they would be there to remember me. So for me – come to my funeral please as opposed to my wedding.
