According to their website, "the ABH VJ Kara Family Centre is a multi-cultural and multi-racial establishment that has been assisting victims of abuse since 2007 and providing temporary safe house shelter services for abused mothers and their children."

They offer counselling, family therapy, practical support, trauma intervention, crisis management, and many other services to assist the abused. Women are given shelter for a minimum of 24 hours up to three weeks, depending on their circumstances.

On Friday, we were joined by Aarti Dheda, an Executive Board Member of ABH VJ Kara Family Centre, to learn more about the work they're doing to help women and children in need. Aarti also spoke to us about an event they are hosting this Friday, and how the public can support.

If you know of someone who is abused and needs assistance, call the centre on 031 404-9523 and speak to social worker Alishia Joseph.
