The end of Google Play Music

Google Play Music is following in the footsteps of its previous competitor, iTunes.
2019 saw the discontinuation of Apple media library, iTunes. The world was shocked and had a lot of questions.

Now Google has announced that they too will soon be phasing out their version of a music streaming service, Google Play Music.
Google will not be removing itself from the music streaming game completely, as it will be replacing Google Play Music with YouTube Music.
South Africans using the service should start considering other platforms, because as of September, South Africa will be one of the first countries to no longer offer the service and the Google Play Music app will no longer be operational.

They hope to see the worldwide phase-out completed by October 2020 and YouTube Music replacing it fully by December 2020, meaning you will no longer be able to access it at all.
If you are currently using this service, you might have some questions. The biggest one probably being: "Where will my music go?"
Google has provided users with a music transfer service that will be available until the end of December.

This option will enable you to move your music libraries, including uploads and purchases to YouTube Music.
While logged into your Google account you can use the transfer tool on the YouTube Music website. Just note that transferring your music library, your music recommendations, stations, and everything in between might take a few hours.

If you choose not to continue your subscription, Google will cancel it for you by the end of your billing cycle.
Don't forget that there are many different music streaming services to choose from, which feature something for everyone.
From streaming giant 'Spotify' to 'JOOX'. You're bound to find a platform that fits all your music needs.
