Stick-like figures on the red planet are markings etched onto a rock, and one expert suggests they may be fossilised traces of life.
Each fragment found is said to be about 6mm long and whether they’re crystals, minerals, or traces of alien life is unknown, but these images have got people talking.

According to the tweet from NASA itself, this is what they had to say: 'Maybe they’re crystals? Or they could be minerals that filled spaces where crystals dissolved away. Stay tuned!’ This statement in itself is an exciting one. Well, for me that is!
Researchers are saying that these trace fossils are not actually the remains of lifeforms, but the impressions made by them. These types of fossils include footprints, tracks, and even faeces deposits left behind by ancient organisms.
