Can you do the Michael Phelps back slap challenge?
Updated | By Damon Beard
People are trying to do the Phelps back slap challenge, but unfortunately it is much harder than it seems! Can you do it?
People have begun imitating the bizarre warm-up routine of Michael Phelps.
Ahead of his races, the US swimmer leans forward and swings his massive arms around his body, a process that leads to him slapping himself on the back in a bid to limber up.
It has helped him win 23 Olympic gold medals – so the routine must have its merits. But it’s hardly something you would expect people to start copying.
Challenge: Try and find the cellphone in this picture
But the ‘Phelps back slap challenge’ is now a thing… and everyone seems to be tweeting pictures of themselves doing it.
Phelps has an incredible reach of 2.03m when he spreads his arms – clearly a physical advantage if trying to slap yourself on the back.
So - wherever you are, do this pose and send me the pic!
