Video shows burglars walking around sleeping victims

A few days ago a property in our road was broken into in broad daylight while the owner's son was sleeping in the house. I shuddered at the thought as that particular day my four-year-old son was at home with a tummy bug. The thought of these brazen criminals roaming around is terrifying.

This footage must have seriously shaken the victims. Can you imagine watching this? The footage shows two people asleep in the lounge while an armed criminal quietly goes through their belongings.

My first thought, over and above the state of the room, was surely that if the family have cameras in the house, that would mean they have beefed up security? Nonetheless, the bad guys made off with a firearm, credit cards, and cellphones.

While on this topic, I urge you to talk to the people around you and make sure no one gains access to your property when you are not there - regardless of who they appear to be. A recent ploy is criminals dressing up in all sorts of uniforms and gaining access onto the property while owners are at work and cleaning out the house. It really is time to be vigilant.
