#TrendReport: Human Microchips

This week on #TrendReport, Chris Reid and Jane discuss microchips that are being planted into humans.
We’re becoming increasingly comfortable with having technology all around us, but some researchers are trying to see if we’d be happy with having it inside our bodies too.
There was a big focus this week on a news story out of Australia where researchers in Melbourne implanted microchips into volunteers. They enabled the subjects to easily identify themselves to computers and are to be trialed at a technology and culture festival at the end of the study.

It’s not the first example of people being given the option to hack their bodies with chips to get more efficient. But as Chris Reid, Trend Researcher at the International Trend Institute explained to Linley-Thomas, we’re maybe not so far off from a future where this is pretty mainstream either.
