A young Argentinian boy was caught on video playing in the rain by his mom. After stepping onto the grass, there are three lighting strikes heard directly behind him. His mom posted the video on social media as a warning to others to avoid doing what her son did.
Although your chances of being struck by lightning are estimated to be at 1 in 350 000, there still is a possibility that it could happen to you. However, the risk can be reduced by following a few simple lightning safety rules.
Here are some lightning tips that you need to know about:
- Rubber-soled shoes and rubber tyres provide NO protection from lightning
- Do not use the telephone (obviously one that your mom always told you about but you failed to pay attention to)
- Never take a bath or shower during a lightning storm
