School 'cracks down' on students' cellphone usage
Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
A school in China is going to the extreme when it comes to banning the use of cellphones. Is this punishment a bit too cruel?
Shame, these poor kids.
School kids these days are completely different from my time at school. While we focused on playing hopskotch, skipping, and just enjoying time out in the fields running and playing, kids nowadays are playing games on their phones, taking selfies with their friends, and even texting each other. How times have changed.

However, if our kids had to see this, their attitude towards cellphone usage in schools will probably change. A school in China is going all out to 'crack down', like literally crack down, on banning students using and carrying their phones to school.
With permission from their parents, if any student is found carrying or playing with their cellphone on the school premises, they have the authority to smash the device with a hammer. Ouch! The look on the faces of these kids is something else. Damn, these guys mean serious business.

A military man is seen smashing the life out of a cellphone in front of a sea of silent school kids who look on in dismay.
I must say though, I had a little chuckle as the Olympic Rings set the backdrop for what could be an Olympic event in the future? Perhaps an event could be created around this - The World's Most Dramatic Cellphone Smash.
All that's missing is some depressing music to set the tone for the 'event'.
