Mother takes a stand against rude comments about her child’s birthmark

One mom decided that enough is enough. Katie Crenshaw took to her blog to stand up for her daughter’s birthmark.

I will never understand where people get their sense of rude entitlement.

Can you imagine pitying this little face in front of her mother, like she doesn't have a daily reminder of how difficult life is going to be for her daughter in a world of cosmetic judgment?

Six-month-old Charlie Crenshaw was born with capillary hemangioma – a vascular tumor that can range in size and shape.

The birthmark developed during the early stages of Katie Crenshaw's pregnancy.

A day in the sixties. ☀️

Hey guys, got anything else I can chew on?

The birthmark is harmless and didn’t need any cosmetic surgery but because it makes Charlie look 'different' Charlies mom has received many negative comments from friends, family and other passersby.

Katie had enough of what people had to say and decided to take a stand against the people who had something to say about her daughter’s appearance.

My sweet girl and her first visit to mama's hometown. ❤️☀️

This is what she wrote on her blog:

‘We don’t need to talk about it every time you look at her. We see past the color of her face. Charlie is Charlie and it’s part of who she is.

It doesn’t need to be constantly commented on, critiqued, or questioned. While I don’t mind educating curious minds, I don’t need your opinion on how its progress or the affect it may have on her. It’s a part of her unique beauty. It may never disappear, and guess what? It doesn’t have to.’

I encourage you to, instead of praying it will disappear, pray that she grows into a confident girl who loves herself no matter what she looks like. Pray that constant comments and opinions from friends, family and strangers will end before she’s old enough to overhear them,’ she writes.

I so admire this mother’s attitude and it will be the compass that navigates this little girl.

It's like a friend of mine has a daughter with a clef pallet and instead of being all undercover about it they openly share the most gorgeous family photos on social media, embracing and adoring her for all that she is.
