Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
Not all superheroes wear capes. Menzi Nxumalo is no ordinary guy; he is on a mission to provide the underprivileged with wheelchairs in KZN, all to let them have a better quality of life.
Menzi Nxumalo chats to Jane Linley-Thomas about his project Ukhamba bringing people together and wanting to provide wheelchairs for people in need;
Menzi Nxumalo visited us last month to share his story. Menzi has started a wheelchair drive for underprivileged people in KZN.

His wheelchair project aims to create awareness about the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities. Menzi wants to promote the joy of giving, friendship, and deliver a wheelchair to every child, teen, and adult in the community who needs one.
Menzi has always had a giving heart. From a young age his mother encouraged him to always give back and be grateful for all he has. One day, as he was commuting to town, he saw a woman in a wheelchair at the bus stop.

He very awkwardly asked her if she needed help in boarding and she very cheekily responded: “Duh, I am in a wheelchair, dear”. He went on to form a friendship with her, and this gave him the inspiration to want to do more.
He has created a Facebook page called, Ukhamba bringing people together, where people are encouraged to inbox the page, sharing their story about why their friend or family member needs a wheelchair.
For the month of August, he is on a drive to deliver one wheelchair to a deserving woman in KZN.
His story is such an important one, about how one act of kindness can make the world of difference. Let's all aim to do better every day.
