KZN talks about how debt can be a major problem in a relationship
Updated | By Stacey Norman on East Coast Radio
A lot of people feel the need to hide their outstanding debts from potential partners and love interests.
According to a new survey, involving 2,000 adults in the USA, many of the respondents hide the fact that they have outstanding debt from their partners.
Read:
Sponsored by Selflender, the survey found that about a quarter (24%) of respondents have lied to a new partner about their level of debt. The survey also revealed that many adults are deceptive about their financial situations in general. Three in 10 admit they have lied about their annual salaries, and more than 25% said they have hidden their spending habits from partners.
That's a bit scary, because the last thing you want to do is lie to your partner or love interest about money, but sometimes that privilege of knowing about your partner's pocket also comes with trust and respect.
We then asked KZN: How much debt are you in and does your partner know about it?
