Jane's World - How have your roles at home evolved?
Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
We're all guilty of thinking that some roles in the household are gender specific, but it's clear that times are changing.
While at lunch over the weekend, we heard a strange noise coming from the garden. In a second, my lady friend HB was on her feet and handling the creepy crawly like a pro. I was amazed, to say the least, as the only thing I have ever done with the creepy pipe is spin it above my head to make that high pitched sound to the delight of the children.

She went on to say the pool is one of the things she looks after around the house. Again, I was dumbfounded. The closest I get to the pool maintenance is buying the pool chemicals and occasionally handling the pool net.
It wasn't too long ago another one of my girlfriends did the braaiing when we went for dinner.

I must be honest... I don't cook, clean the pool or know how to use the washing machine. Mr T is in control of all the above. I am more in the Home Management Department which requires many hard slogs around the supermarket gathering nourishment and the likes thereof for a home of five ever-eating, ever-needing-something humans.
I make sure we have all we need, but when it comes to getting down and dirty, hell no! I'd rather lay the table with finesse and flair, and clear the table and rinse the plates thereafter.

I need to know from you, do you take the hands-on approach at home or are you more of a manager like me?
