High School students volunteer to be pepper sprayed for science experiment
Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
These students voluntarily went through this
terrible experience, all in the name of science. As a parent, would you sign a
waiver to allow your child to do this?
If you were a student that did science while in high school, you would know that the experiments are one of the most interesting parts of being in the class. But this experiment went a bit too far.

According to the Daily Mail, a group of students from a high school in Ohio, USA volunteered for a science experiment which has left many confused and shocked. For their science project in the Criminal Science Technology class, they volunteered to experience what pepper spray felt like if they were sprayed in the face by it.
In the video, you can see the students lined up against a wall, getting sprayed in the face by a police officer who repeatedly shouted: "Stop resisting, please comply." What's even more shocking about the experiment is that parents actually signed a waiver issued by the school to allow their children to take part. It read as follows:
'Dear Parent(s) or Guardian,
On Friday, May 12, 2017, as part of our defensive tactics training that we have covered this year, I will introduce the use and effects of law enforcement OC “Pepper Spray” to the students. Each student will have the option to be swabbed or receive a quick “burst” to the facial area with this chemical agent. It will cause irritation and a burning sensation to the eyes and nasal area for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
This is a controlled and safe experience for the students and is completely voluntary.
Please sign your option below and return the form by Monday, May 8, 2017.
Thank you,
Chief Milford'
Knowing that the experience would be a traumatic and painful one, I cannot seem to understand why the parents would allow this to happen?
After watching these children getting sprayed, I think they definitely learnt about what it feels like and probably would not want to experience this again. Ouch!
