Year in Review: The tragic death of Nellie Tembe
The tragic news of the 22-year-old sent shockwaves across South Africa.
It was only a few weeks prior to her passing when AKA shared the exciting news that he had formally asked his girlfriend, Nellie Tembe, to be his wife. He shared pictures of what looked like Lobola negotiations.
According to Police, in the early hours of Sunday, 11 April 2021, an investigation was opened following the death of a 22-year-old woman said to be Nellie Tembe, the fiancée of well-known musician AKA, at the five-star Pepperclub Hotel in central Cape Town.
At the time, Captain FC van Wyk said that police were investigating the tragic incident, but was not at liberty to provide further details on how exactly the young woman was killed.
The Tembe family released the following statement:
We are still in shock and are dealing with our emotions.

The family and AKA was said to be understandably beside themselves with grief but as it turned out, there would be much more to the story than everyone initially thought.
