Year In Review: A father's love
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
J Sbu celebrated Father's Day in the most touching way - with his father and his son. This was a first for the three generations of the Nxumalo clan.
Watch the heart-warming video featuring J Sbu, his father, and son below:
READ: It's Father's Day this Sunday and JSbu decided to share his love for his father and his son.
Growing up, J Sbu did not have the kind of relationship with his father that many of his peers had. While many people declare their love by saying the words "I love you", JSbu and his dad prefered doing it differently.
Sharing on the show, J Sbu said:
That has never really been a thing with my Dad and I. I know that he obviously loves me and so do I, but we don’t say the words. It's not a cultural thing, really it is just what it is. And I do not think I have a longing for it, he shows me he loves me in actions.- J Sbu
J Sbu, however, did not feel like he was missing out on much. For him, his dad expresses love for him in actions and deeds. He also acknowledges that his dad grew up in a different generation where perhaps showing emotion was looked down upon.
Sometimes just being there for your parents and children and sharing your most precious commodity - time - means more than all the gifts and words could say.
Listen as J Sbu unpacks this in his own words below:
