A woman who knows how to keep her millions! She eats cat food and never buys anything new...
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
Meet what may well be the world's tightest millionaire, who believes in never buying anything new and even has a stomach for cat food.
This astonishing lady goes by the name of Aimee Elizabeth. She's 50 years of age and she is worth, wait for it, a whopping $5.3-million (roughly R80-million)!
Read: Elon Musk's reign as richest person in the world ends after losing $13.5-billion in one day!
But if you thought that meant she's happy to go about splashing her cash around, then you are very much mistaken. She is what we call a penny-pinching millionaire, who keeps a very tight leash on her finances.
But it just keeps getting better. Aimee gives herself a monthly spending budget of $1,000 (R15,000) a month and refuses to go over it. Instead, she has worked out ways to save money in all aspects of her life.
Teach us your ways, mam!
When Aimee appeared on TLC's Extreme Cheapskates, she said:
I keep my water heater turned off, I need 22 minutes to heat it up enough to get a shower so I turn it on every morning when I get up. I set it for 22 minutes so I know exactly when my shower's ready because God forbid I waste another minute on that water heater.- Aimee
The stable multi-millionaire feels this little trick saves her around $80 (R1,200) a month.
The home she is living in was given to her by her ex-husband after their divorce, but for some weird reason, Michael, offers to clean the property for free so she can save a few hundred dollars on cleaning bills each month.
Give us your ex-husband, please!
Apparently the cleaning gives her ex a free workout and helps to keep him in shape, so it's a win-win situation for both of them.
While it's all great and well to save a penny or grab yourself a bargain now and again, one of Aimee's cost-saving tricks is a step too far for many, as she also confesses to eating cat food to save 30c (R4.50) on buying tins of tuna.
Instead of buying cheap tins of tuna, this lady decides she would rather eat a cat food can labelled 'chicken and tuna dinner in light gravy'.
She also admits to feeding this to her (human) guests. How gross!
She says:
When I go to these extremes I think people see it and it annoys a lot of them but I don't care. It saves money.- Aimee
Maybe next time you should ask what's for dinner when you visit someone (after the pandemic, of course)...
