Over the years, we’ve been privy to some interesting nicknames. Some of these include 'Slyfish', 'Cookie', 'Tucky', and too many more to name. 

On the other hand, sometimes a nickname can be something as simple as 'Nic'. 

A nickname is a familiar or humorous name given to a person or thing instead of or as well as the real name.

Many of our childhood nicknames weren’t chosen, they were given. As we transition into adulthood, the name becomes far more important. Likewise, the power is in your hands to nip a nickname in the bud. 

You know what they say, with great power comes great responsibility. If you decided to give yourself a nickname, watch out because it might end up sticking…

Here’s how to pick a nickname: 

- Many opt for shortening their first name e.g Stacey = Stace 

- Others as a cute ending to their name e.g Nicholas = Nicky 

- On the odd occasion some have a simple letter as their name J Sbu = J 

- Rarely, others get a new nickname entirely e.g Buhle = Dark Pixie

The most important thing to consider is that you have to be happy with the nickname. At the end of the day, you’re the one who has to hear it.
