The Weeknd is changing his name to ABEL?
Is he gonna pull a 'Ye' and have a #NameChange?
It started with some hilarious fan moments and a Twitter post that brought about the idea for singer, The Weeknd, to change his name to ABEL.

The Weeknd is this famous singer's stage name and Abel is his biological first name.
During a chat with his fans over socials about the much anticipated release of the music video 'Out of time', this concept was discussed.
It is very common for singers to change their name to a shorter, more catchy name.
Singers such as Lorde, Adele, Rihanna, and many others do it. Whether it be dropping their last name or changing their name entirely, it works.
Even in Mzansi, household names such as DJ Fresh, AKA, Nasty C etc. have all changed or altered their names.

John Legend has also offered his seal of approval via Twitter that The Weeknd should make the switch.
Last year, The Weeknd admitted none of his fans used his stage name but he wasn't "done" with using 'The Weeknd' for his work just yet.
Many fans are debating the change, saying that his name is part of history and it would be a travesty to make a change.
"How would we be able to 'call out his name' is it isn't a common name anymore?"
Other fans have come with some interesting conspiracies suggesting a change in his music direction.
Many artists such as Taylor Swift and P!NK have done this, although it is rarely paired with an entire name change.

Wait, it just hit me. Remember when @theweeknd retweeted that post about him retiring. Maybe he meant the Weeknd was retiring. But ABEL would still be making music. He could've been talking about the Weeknd's persona, not his career.
