WATCH: Tourist clings to 100m high bridge as floor panels fall out
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Who thought that a glass bridge was a good idea in the first place?!
If you were to do a Google search, you'll quickly find that the list of the world's scariest and most dangerous bridges is quite a long one.
Pakistan is home to one of the most dangerous bridges in the world, the Hussaini Hanging Bridge, while the Montenegro Rainforest Bridge in Costa Rica is not considered to be all that dangerous, although it is missing a few planks.

There are also a number of bridges that have been constructed using glass so that you can have a beautiful view of what's beneath you.
It should be noted, though, that some of these glass bridges have been closed in recent years because of safety concerns.
And after an incident in the northeast province of Jilin, China, there could be another glass bridge closing its invisible doors.

A bridge that was built over the Piyan mountain ravine in Jilin was severely damaged when very strong, forceful winds blasted around the structure.
A local news outlet Xinhua reported that the winds were so extreme and they were blowing at 150km/h!

These winds caused large parts of the framework to be twisted and buckle, leading to many of the glass panes, which is the only thing standing between visitors and the 100m high drop, to drop out.
While no one was injured, a tourist was left stranded after all the glass panels that had surrounded him had dropped out.

One picture has made its way onto the internet and the poor tourist can be seen clinging to the bridge rails and hanging on for dear life.

The tourist made it to safety with the help of firefighters and police who had guided him along.
After 35 minutes, he was back on safe ground and although he was not injured, they had moved him to a hospital where he is receiving psychological counselling.
The local authorities also posted a statement on their Weibo account addressing the situation:
The staff of the scenic area rushed to the scene as soon as possible, brought emergency equipment and successfully transferred the trapped person to a safe area. There were no casualties. After being kept in the hospital for observation, the trapped person was in stable emotional and physical condition and has been discharged from the hospital.- Unknown

While this story, very fortunately, had a happy ending, we have to question the thought process behind not only the construction of a glass bridge, but also opening the bridge to tourists on a day where the wind is blowing at such incredible speed?!
If people had considered putting "cross a glass bridge"' on their bucket lists, this story will surely have convinced them otherwise.
Exactly why I won't be standing on a glass bridge/balcony/ledge. Nope... https://t.co/zdWzLZ1r3R

I'd like to think I'm a pretty hardy tourist, but no way am I going out on a glass-bottom suspension bridge in 90MPH winds.
