This whale calf carcass has been assumed to be due to an attack of some kind - hark bites can be seen all over the whale.
There has been a recent surge of shark and orca attacks on the coasts of South Africa.
This wouldn't be the first time orcas have been spotted in the Ballito area.
While the public speculates, officials have removed the carcass from the beach for safe disposal.

Here's what to do if a whale washes up along the coast:
- Call your local Marine Wildlife Rescue operator immediately and take their advice. You should also inform the authorities responsible for managing the beach, including the police.
- Do not touch the animal or try to move it.
- Try to keep onlookers and dog walkers away from the animal until the authorities arrive as there is a risk of the animal’s decomposing body becoming a health hazard.
