KwaZulu-Natal has finally gotten its snow on, with the Southern Drakensberg experiencing the first snowfall of 2025.

The snow began falling late on Tuesday, April 15, and continued into the early hours of Wednesday, leaving a picturesque landscape in its wake.

Wayne Chislett, owner of Aspen Villa in the Southern Drakensberg, said the snowfall was a welcome change for the region.

"Where Aspen Villia is located, we on the Drakensberg Gardens Road, are very fortunate. We've got a beautiful view from basically Bushman's Nek right through to Sani Pass, so you see all the peaks of the Drakensberg," he said.

"The higher peaks obviously got Eastern snowfall. The lower peaks, obviously nothing happened there. I think it's just kind of a precedent of what's to come for this following winter."

Take a look:

As the winter season approaches, KZN residents can expect cold temperatures and potential disruptions. However, the snow-covered landscapes will be a welcome sight for tourists and locals alike.

With the weather expected to remain unpredictable, it's essential to stay informed and prepared for the changing conditions.
