WATCH: SA responds to SAPS Special Task Force at UAE SWAT Challenge
Updated | By Stacey & J Sbu
Did you know SA has the number 1 SWAT team in Africa?
Move over Hollywood hunks, there's a better group of action heroes around!
Not only are these heroes doing the most but they’re proudly South African! If you’re curious about what we’re going on about, boy do we have a story for you.
Scrolling through TikTok we came across a video of the SAPS Special Task Force competing in the UAE Swat Challenge in February. The intensity of the challenge is evident in the short clip that had our jaws on the floor!
South Africans were quite intrigued by this group of no-nonsense takers as they flooded the comments section with questions (and a few jokes).
Aside from many locals not knowing much about this specific task force, the comments also made note of our Task Force’s fumble. There was also a rather witty load shedding joke made by one of the commentators!
Take a look at the clip below:
@4fun_01 Replying to @johnphyfer6 UAE, SWAT CHALLENGE 2024 SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦 Respect Guys 👏 What country you would like to see next, follow and comment to see your country next #southafrica #africa #nigeria #uganda #kenya #gabon #ghana #uganda #somalia #egypt #like #follow #challenge #viral #love #viral #top ♬ original sound - Ayo_Piano 🇳🇬🇿🇦
Here’s what some South Africans had to say:
@mila_rose asked:
“Which part of South Africa because here by us police can't run?”
@PLUSHSIZEnoproblem said referring to the load shedding joke:
“Bro said to turn the lights OFF to make them feel AT HOME. I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry laugh.”
@Mavee011 wrote proudly:
“Some won't appreciate things in SA no matter how great it is... Beautiful to watch.”
SAPS spokesperson Athlende Mathe posted this on X (formerly Twitter):
The SAPS Special Task Force unit is taking part in this year’s #UAESWATchallenge. Our Task Force is among the top 10 most elite units in the world. Last year they obtained 9th position. They are the number 1 SWAT team in Africa! They respond to high risk incidents only in SA. pic.twitter.com/xzQdDWBHfO
