WATCH: Miley Cyrus' emergency landing due to severe weather conditions

Air travel can go very wrong due to unpredictable circumstances.

With all the horror stories that circulate, it's important to stay vigilant when it comes to safety.

We were truly in shock when we heard that singer, Miley Cyrus, had to make an uncomfortable emergency landing after the plane she was on was struck by lightning. Eek!

Sources have confirmed that Miley is indeed safe after battling the unforeseen weather issues during her flight.

It is confirmed that Miley was en route to Paraguay to headline the Asunciónico Festival in the country's capital when it was announced that her plane was "caught in a major unexpected storm".

"To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing," Cyrus, 29, shared on Instagram.

In addition to this, Paraguay experienced some serious weather issues.

Miley shared a video with her fans in her bathtub saying: "I wish I could’ve STAYed & performed for all of my fans in Paraguay. Please STAY safe. I love you."

The 29-year-old added that she was "a little sick" and "super exhausted" after the scary flight, but she did perform her song 'Stay' for her fans through the phone.

Following Miley's statement, the event organisers put out a message informing the public that Asunción was hit with massive flooding on Tuesday. 

The official Twitter account for the music festival stated that the extreme weather conditions forced organisers to cancel the first day of the event.

Very unfortunate for those who have travelled all the way across the world for this.

Now that the concern has died down and everyone is safe, many fans have been making light of the situation with their comments. 

Fans are so grateful to hear that Miley is safe and have been thanking her for her efforts to be there for her fans in need and provide clear communication surrounding the circumstances whereby she wasn't able to arrive at the festival.
