Once again we witness the power of music and its ability to transcend any language barriers. Music is universal!
As South Africans, we are no strangers to the contagious, one-of-a-kind Amapiano beats.

It is also notoriously difficult for SA artists to break out into the international music industry, although there have been local acts that have been able to make it through these invisible barriers, especially in the last few years. (Yes, we're all thinking it - Master KG.)
Now it seems like there is another locally born trend making its way across the seas. To America to be exact.

A very interesting video has been making its way around social media. Although the idea is SA born and bred, what has captured everyone's attention is the music that has been used in the video.
The video features three men dancing in the street of Washington DC, USA, while wearing towels!

And their song of choice? 'Woza' by Mr JazziQ, Kabza de Small and Lady Du, feat Boohle. An iconic and hugely popular yanos tune!
The men are making their way across the street while jiving to the beat and seconds later a few random bystanders decide to join in on the fun. Although it's clear that some of them had no idea what they were doing, dancing doesn't always have to be perfect, as long as you're having fun!

The response to the video has been overwhelmingly positive, although some people were still a little confused.
Many users did note that this type of video would be impossible to film in SA because of some of the drivers we have on the roads, while others chose to invite the dancers for some propper dancing as soon as this pandemic is over.

This might be the first time Americans have hopped on the trend but it all started right here in SA!
Just a few months ago Orlando Pirates player, Linda Mntambo, posted a video on TikTok showing some of the players getting down while wearing their towels:
