WATCH: 'John Wick' fights off skebengas in Klerksdorp
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
North West police are looking for a man who survived an
attempted hijack and robbery in Klerksdorp earlier this week.
“I Once Saw Him Kill Three Men In A Bar... With A Pencil”
The above classic line from the movie 'John Wick' is somewhat apt when it comes to this story.
A video that has gone viral on social media captures five men attempting to rob/hijack a man and his white SUV in the Klerksdorp CBD.
The man, armed with what appeared to be a knife, fought back until the suspects gave up. He has now been dubbed as the 'John Wick of South Africa'.

According to ECR News, police spokesperson Adel Myburgh says there is no case docket as the victim refused to lay charges.
"In a similar incident that occurred in May, the complainant also refused to open a case even though the suspects, who allegedly robbed him, were identified."

"A part of me regrets taking the video, but I'm also happy I did take it," says Thato Ledimo from Klerksdorp, who captured the video of a man wielding a knife fending off men who allegedly tried to rob him or hijack his car.
Thato Ledimo has been criticised by some people on social media for taking the video instead of assisting the man fighting back against criminals.
I don't feel bad for not assisting. I'm a woman and also feared for my own safety. There were hundreds more people who also stood and watched him as he was fighting to protect his possessions.- Thato Ledimo
Here are some tips on how to stay safe from hijackings:
- Always be aware of your surroundings
