WATCH: Man finds out girlfriend of 8 months is catfish through dramatic reveal

Mario got the shock of his life when he discovered his girlfriend's real identity.
Dating apps are a strange world to navigate and falling in love with a catfish is a single person's nightmare.

Most people are optimistic, generally feel like something like that wouldn't happen to them and have faith in their fellow humans.
Just like Mario, the latest catfish victim on the popular MTV show 'Catfish UK'.

Hosts Oobah Butler and Julie Adenuga help people find out the truth about the person they are dating/in love with. If you think the person you're talking to is not who they say they are, these two will get to the bottom of it.

Mario had become a bit suspicious of his partner of eight months, who had had yet to meet.
The dad of two moved to London a few years ago and got his life on track when he met 'Hannah' on a dating app. He quickly fell head over heels in love.

Although they were chatting every day, whenever he would ask her to call him, she had excuses. He continued to believe that the person he was speaking to was real because of a London postcode she had given him but she also refused to meet up.
Mario called the team of MTV 'Catfish UK' to help him get to the bottom of this mystery and things got very strange:

Eventually, the woman reached out to Mario saying she would meet him if he promised that the relationship between them would remain the same.
The trio went to the park where the meeting was set to take place and was stunned when the person behind the fake 'Hannah' turned out to be Mario's business partner, housemate and former friends-with-benefits, Courtney.

Mario could not believe that this was who had been responsible for all of this drama and said that she was the last person he had expected to see.
He's my best friend, and my roommate. We've known each other for almost five years now. I wanted to see what it would be like to be his girlfriend, because I am desperately in love with him. It was wrong, I shouldn't have done it. But I did it from a place of love. It's the realest thing I've had in my life.- Courtney (business partner)

While Courtney clearly had some strong feelings towards Mario, he made it clear that he doesn't feel the same way and considers her family.
Two months after discovering the truth the 'Catfish UK' team checked in with them to see how things were going and after a short time apart, Mario and Courtney are once again living together, continue to run their business and remain friends.

We're glad things seemed to work themselves out but forgive us for thinking that the living situation is still a recipe for disaster...
