This begs the question...

Is there really a right way to share biriyani? If so, who gets to decide?

All we know is that if there is a right way to share it, this ain't it.

The short clip was shared on Instagram Reels by content creator Jahnavi Dasetty (@mahathalli), where it received over two-million views and 132,000 likes.

As you can imagine, this sparked major debates over the internet.

Many have weighed in with their opinion and decided that the spoons should be the same size or that it should be dished into separate dishes.

However, one user raised a fair point saying: "Eating biriyani in a spoon is itself is a sin... better use the hand".

Traditionally, biryani is eaten with our hands and is a common practice paired with this cuisine. Much like we would eat sushi with chopsticks.

This type of cuisine generally brings people together. It is eaten on various occasions such as family dinners, weddings, and cultural days.

Although, it has become an everyday meal for people around KZN.

One user had a humourous comment that received many likes: "Joey doesn't share food".

This is a F.R.I.E.N.D.S reference but it proves that if a meal is that tasty, maybe it isn't worth sharing.

One user found a hack for eating briani. She says, "I would grad that spoon and eat twice as fast hahaha".

Valid point, speed may beat size of the spoon but then how will you have time to enjoy it?

One user compared the situation with the biryani to how they don't share their chicken. We are sure a lot of South Africans can relate to that.

There is one thing you have learnt, Mzansi is very protective over sharing their food. You heard it, folks, hide your chicken and your biryani from you fam. You never know when they will be lurking in the corridors waiting to strike with their large spoon... or hands, in this case.

Have you noticed that we've been spelling biryani different every time?
