A video recorded by a visitor at Crocodile Creek this weekend shows a handler being attacked by one of the large reptiles.
A video showing a KZN crocodile handler being attacked by a large reptile has made its way to Facebook and has since gone viral.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) shared a 41-second clip of the harrowing incident on Sunday, 17 March, adding that the attack occurred that afternoon.
RUSA’s Tongaat Operations Centre reportedly received a phone call for assistance at around 14:48 from a visitor at Crocodile Creek in Greylands.
Reaction Officers immediately made their way over to the facility and were informed that the handler had already been taken to a medical facility.
A spectator provided a video of the attack to Reaction Officers who shared it on Facebook.
The clip shows the handler in the crocodile enclosure, starting the show. A crowd surrounds the crocodiles and the handler, watching intently.
The reptile swings around and grabs hold of the handler’s legs. Thankfully, the handler managed to free himself and flee the enclosure, but not before the crocodile left its mark.
“He sustained a serious injury to his leg," said RUSA.
The following clip contains strong language and an animal attack that is not suitable for sensitive viewers:
