This chilling trend simply has no place in our society.
Videos of men fantasising about what they will “do to women” whilst on a date have been popping up on social media.
An example of one such video is as follows:
LISTEN: Heightened safety concerns over lift platform horror stories
You must be thinking, how is this stuff allowed on the internet and especially a platform like TikTok, that has such a big youth user base?
The harsh reality is that platforms such as TikTok have millions of videos posted on the daily and only if reported or if it violates the platform guidelines will it be taken down.
Although, this often takes time... enough time for something to become a trend.
Among some of the horrid imagery, men were being misogynistic as well as brutally describing some “examples”.
Some of these examples include pushing women off a cliff, cutting their throats, beating them to death, and so much more.
Safety concerns are raised for anyone who knows the people making these videos, as well as those who "get any ideas" while watching.
A TikTok spokesperson told Femail that “misogyny has no place on the platform”, but this goes deeper than that.
This is a simple abuse of the platform, inciting of harm and the spread of violence.
These users still have their accounts active with no action taken against them, other than users reporting the video to TikTok.

However, this trend is not a first for unspeakable trends that have plagued the internet.
Users continue to do this because they simply can. With the rise of gender-based violence, safety is of the utmost concern.
If you ever come across one of these videos, we suggest you report it so that some action can be taken.
These violent fantasies shared with the world are anything but hilarious.
The seeds that they plant in viewers can lead to catastrophic results.
Beware of what you expose yourself to on social media, as well as what you share.
