Unmasked: A rude customer tips a waiter with "mask" in COVID-19 defiance
Updated | By Stacey & JSbu
A waitress has made claims that she was denied a tip from a customer who left a rude four letter message under tip on their bill.
It seems the Coronavirus has really brought out the worst in people. A waitress in Pennsylvania whilst working her shift and following COVID-19 safety precautions got more than she bargained for.
This after a customer left her a note with 'masks' on the receipt instead of a tip after he had finished his meal. The waitress shares that this was sparked by her having to remind the customer that he needed to cover up his mouth and nose with a mask before he was seated at his table to enjoy his meal.
Clearly the customer took offense to this request.
A photo receipt with the word "mask" written on the tip line was shared on social media and went viral. Social media users commented on how rude they found the actions of the customer to have been.
Here is the Facebook page of John Henry's Pub of Ardmore, where the receipt was shared:
When your staff politely asks a customer to wear a mask until seated, this is how they are disrespected. Totally unacceptable. “YOU” should be ashamed of yourself!!

One of the captions on the post read: "When your staff politely asks a customer to wear a mask until seated, this is how they are disrespected. Totally unacceptable. 'YOU' should be ashamed of yourself!!"
This man apparently came into the pub on Sunday for a meal and when he got up from his table and started walking through the pub without a mask, the waitress then asked him to put a mask on but he clearly wasn't happy about that.
We all know by now that all public places have installed a policy that states that customers must wear a face mask when not seated at their table in a restaurant or even when they are out in public for their safety and that of others.
Kearney the owner of the resturant said staff often had to remind customers who seemingly forget the safety precautions that resturant establishments have to follow.
As we do with a lot of different customers, as they walk in we ask them to put their masks on or while they're in and they stand up, we kindly remind them to put their mask back on when they're moving about. It's not offensive, it's not aggressive, it's a kindly reminder.- Kathy Kearney,
What are your thoughts on this customers behaviour?
